Megan Mayfield WMF

Name: Megan Mayfield
Age: 17
Location: Tucson, AZ
Occupation: Student/Hostess

1. At this second, favourite artist/band in the world?

BØRNS, BØRNS, BØRNS!

2. What song is guaranteed to get you in a good mood?

We Are the World by USA for Africa or What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.

3. Which artist/band that no longer makes music would you want to hear new stuff from (dead/alive)?

The Immediate. One of the members was Conor O'Brien, who went on to create the masterpiece that is Villagers. They had a really cool sound, sadly they only made one full album in the span of their bandship.

4. Which festival anywhere in the world would you go to (money is no object)?

Glastonbury seems like loads of fun.

5. Dream festival head-liners, Fri, Sat & Sun?

CCR, Queen, Phoenix

6. If you could master any instrument which would you choose?

I feel like mastering the harmonica would be awesome. You could pull it out and just go full Dylan on everyone.

7. What artist/band wouldn't you miss if they stopped making music?

Halsey

8. Favourite decade for music?

All of them. That's literally the hardest question, I've been stumped on this for way too long. It's so hard! Every decade has so many artists that I love dearly. But if I get down to it, I really love the 70s-80s.

9. And favourite artist from that decade?

David Bowie or Billy Joel

10. What artist/band would your friends be surprised to know you liked?

I don't talk about it much, so it may be surprising...but jazz just really gets me goin'. Anyone from Sinatra and Louis Armstrong to Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald. All of the classics.

11. Ideal musical dinner guest/guests and what would you eat?

Bo Burnham, he's absolutely hysterical and so clever. He seems like a great person to hang around. We'd probably eat tacos, just because who doesn't like tacos?

12. Artist/band that you are a fan of that more people should be listening to?

Jacko Hooper, he's a cool guy.

13. Last album you listened to in its entirety?

Hunky Dory by David Bowie

14. Last concert you went to as a fan?

It was really George Ezra...but I'm going to say Billy Joel, because I will be seeing him in nearly a week. (May 14th)

YouTube Video Of The Week! 17/09/13

My choice for video is The New Seekers - I'd like To Teach The World To Sing. I know it is heavily linked with the Coke ad and I think that is part of it's charm. It very catchy and filled with hooks that'll keep you singing it all day. Also the lyrics are all about world peace and you can't hate world peace without sounding like a prick. Definitely one of my favourite songs for a commercial even though it was before my time.

Back From Holiday!!

Last night I got back from Cornwall in quite speedy time considering all the fog and crazy drivers. I had a great time relaxing and despite lack of internet and recorded TV shows to watch I managed to keep myself entertained by going to a few nice local towns like Newquay and Falmouth and also over the course of the holiday I managed to completely read Rod Stewart's autobiography from cover to cover and also carry on with reading World War Z. I really liked reading Rod. He has lived quite an exciting life and it was nice to hear about his younger life, his time with The Faces where I found out that some of the members were from The Small Faces which I guess I really should have known, hearing about his love for football and more specifically Scottish football and mostly his love for the women throughout his life. He definitely has been with plenty of ladies and in doing so has built up quite a family. The pictures included in the book are quite nice to see, showing his offspring and also himself through the decades and seeing how his clothing style started and changed through the eras. It really was a brilliant book.

World War Z is going pretty well, it has taken me quite a while to get into it but I think I am finally there and only have about 20% left of the book. I'm glad I will finish before the film comes out and hopefully it will be as good and as properly laid out as the book is turning out to be. I'm also really looking forward to going back to Cornwall in the next holiday break I get. I will for sure visit Newquay because that place is the best town in my opinion mainly for the shops, but I will also want to visit Falmouth again, Truro and maybe Plymouth maybe? I dunno but we will see when we get down there. :) I figured I will end on a Rod Stewart tune and I have chosen one of his earlier songs. You Wear It Well footage from Top Of The Pops, you can really get a sense of his fashion at the time, Mad!
