Nada Surf - Cold To See Clear YTV

Nada Surf, who I found out about via browsing the Barsuk record label have released this lo-fi rocker Cold To See Clear. It is off of the 'You Know Who You Are' album that was released earlier this month. It has been 4 years since their last release but they sound as fresh as ever with this tune. I like the electro tinged rock that they seem to produce with an effortless ease and the album has even more bangers like this. So if you are diggin' this number, be sure to check out more. Enjoy!

Southern - Where I Want To Be SCS

This is the latest from artist Southern which is to be released on the 18th of August. This song really carries on with the same style of music that they have produced so far which is no bad thing. I think when the inevitable album gets released, it will sound like a perfect package of blues, acoustic/rootsy slide guitar and boy-girl vocals which this track will fit nicely into. If you a fan of Jake Bugg in terms of lyrics and the story telling aspect of songs this one is definitely worth a listen. Beautiful song!

SoundCloud Songs

This week is another double hitter. I have found it hard to limit my SoundCloud feature to just one song every two weeks, there are just too many good songs out there. So I'm considering making it a more frequent feature but for now here is two tracks for you to enjoy.

First up is the track Molly-O! by artist Simone Felice. I found out about this artist through the latest Q magazine and after listening to this album I am glad I took their review further. This song has tinges of country pop, and his voice has a slight young Bruce Springsteen element to it which is no bad thing. I love the sing along chorus, the clever lyrics and his unique style. This track along with the album is pretty great.



Next up is Coves with the track Beatings. This duo are from Leamington Spa which (if you didn't know) is where I am from. There is something to be said for repping your home town and associated acts that come out of it, which I do, but this group really don't need it. The quality tunes off their debut album easily do it alone. This track is a bit of a dreamy number with electronic vibes throughout but my main loves are the strumming guitars and the cheeky harmonica that comes out of nowhere. Beaut

YouTube Video Of The Week! 28/05/13

This week I have been getting into a slightly alternative style than normal with Iggy Azalea featuring T.I.. Out of the few tracks she has released so far, this one is my favourite. I like her rapping style and I think there is a cheeky element to her lyrics but that doesn't diminish the quality of them, she is not just singing nonsense like other artists I've heard in the past. On the basis of the few tracks I have heard so far I have pre-ordered her album due to be released in September. I'm really excited to here what else she has to offer. I'm also interested to see what she is like live so I'm considering trying to see her at Reading Festival in Aug. Hopefully her live show is as good as I'm imagining. I've heard she has been compared to previous female rappers in the past and to be honest I see small comparisons but she has her own style that I think shines through enough to be classed as an artist in her own right. Rodriguez

I've been watching a few different music related movies recently, one of them being The Search For Sugarman which was recommended by a mate at uni. It was an interesting documentary style thing about this artist named Rodriguez. Basically he went completely off the grid and no one had heard anything from him in years, but the people on the movie managed to track him down and have a chat. If you get a chance, give it a watch. Anyways, I was reading Mojo on the bus this morning and was pleased to see the little article (pictured) which basically says he has a bunch of new tracks and is going to produce a killer (hopefully) new album. If his past music is anything to go by, it should be brilliant.
