Happy 2016!

The Fab Four

Happy new year to all of the readers! I hope that the new year will be even better than the last.

Seeing as the holiday period has been pretty dead in terms of new music album releases, I have been down many a musical rabbit hole in search for interesting tunes and new bands that have passed me by and have found some great albums by a Chicagoan band called The Ponys. The track below is taken from their second album out of three as is really lo-fi, garagey pop loveliness.

In the future I am going to aim to post more content on this blog about a larger and more varied choice of subjects. I hope everybody will still enjoy everything I produce. Thank you.

Ezra Furman - Restless Year YTV

14/07/15 YouTube Video

Ezra Furmans album is one that I have been digging lately. He has a truly unique sound that keeps me guessing throughout the album. Restless Year is the first track on the album and kicks it off with a bang. One of the major things that I enjoy about his songs is how he uses the human voice to create sounds so that it isn't all just musical instruments. It may sound out there but it is some of the most catchy/creative music around. Enjoy!

1 Year Old

I really wanted to get a post out on the first of may seeing as at that point my blog would have been 1 year old but due to uni deadlines I have been crazy busy and only managed to find the time now.
A few days ago now I went to see Never Shout Never and We Are The In Crowd play at The Institute Birmingham. NSN were on first and played a large handful of songs. It seemed to be over pretty fast as they stopped playing at like 5 past 8. I enjoyed Christopher Drews playing of various different instruments and in doing so, showing what a talented guy he is. Also the random banter that him and his bandmates had was fun to watch. I would like to see them as headliners sometime, I think they would put on a great longer show.

WATIC also were a full of energy group, the female lead I really like and I think I particularly enjoy female vocals with rock music. There is something about it that works really well. As for seeing them again live I don't think I would be that bothered, something about the sound they made was very samey to me that a lot of bands could reproduce. But I still enjoyed it.

To sort of commemorate my year I have purchased the latest Frank Turner album Tape Deck Heart on vinyl which if you remember my first post is the best way to listen to the dude.

New Years Music

So Christmas is over and even now I have a shit load of chocolate and sugary treats to eat. I wanted to show my appreciation to my friends and family for all the amazing gifts and stuff I've received seeing as I'm writing this post off of my new kindle :) I also got a fair amount of money to buy some new CD's, the majority of which are pictured above and I'm just waiting for the last one or two to arrive but I've got more than enough to last me. Good times!!!!

Since I have had some time off uni I have been trying to sort out my room into more of a presentable state. My girlfriend (with the same idea) was sorting out one of her living room cupboards and found a box of old CD's that I gave to her to store before I moved house. Listening to them again has brand back a lot of good memories from when I was first getting into music. Its really nice to look back to good music just before the new years. Let's hope this 2013 will bring even more brilliant music.

Have a good NYE!!
