Two Door Cinema Club - Bad Decisions YTV

We are as of this second, well in to October 2016 and you definitely wouldn't have guessed it if you have just finished watching my number one video for this week: Bad Decisions by Two Door Cinema Club. It is filled to the brim with all of the Neo-Technic referenced goodness that the 80's had to offer. A variable pick and mix pouch from classic movies, video games and more. And what better way to soundtrack this than a synthy electronic belter that grows to include some wailing banshee guitar lines. Safe to say, since Friday I have listened to this track 50 strong times. Enjoy!

Public Access TV - End Of An Era YTV

October is here and I have been a slight bit absent of late mainly due to work commitments. What better way to enjoy the start of Autumn than cracking on with the long awaited debut from Public Access TV, and more specifically this track End Of An Era. Jangly guitar straight out of the metaphorical gate that is guaranteed to get your hips swayin' and feet tappin' if you are that way inclined. Plus the addition of catchy lyrics in the verse and chorus make for quite the addictive track that is part of an equally addictive album. Enjoy!

Beach Slang - Younger Us YTV

In preparation for their upcoming LP release, Beach Slang have treated us to this cracker of a cover. Younger Us is a track originally by the Japandroids from way back in 2012. If you are knowledgeable of the original track, you will be well aware that this new version from Beach Slang isn't leaps and bounds different from the Japandroids original. Coincidentally, the main element that differentiates the two is the main reason I love this track. That factor is the vocals from one Mr James Alex, more down tuned and abrasive just how I like it, and hopefully you do to. Enjoy!

Kings Of Leon - Waste A Moment YTV

If there was ever a band I was desperately missing and didn't even know it, it has to be Kings Of Leon and this track Waste A Moment is the perfect first release. Great guitar sound as always and the classic Caleb Followill singin' drawl to know you are in safe hands. The perfect mixture of Americana roots rock and Indie boy rock. It guarantees to take me straight to the heart of Tennessee and feel like one of the gang. Lets hope for some more bangers from these guys. Enjoy! 

Scott & Charlene's Wedding - Don't Bother Me YTV

Off of Scott & Charlene's third album is this great track Don't Bother Me. Sing along grooves that seem to define slacker garage rock. The track seems to stay just under the energised level, despite the vocals ending up getting more and more frantic as the song goes on. One of my best bits from the video is the straight up Slash moment on top of a truck from the killer guitarist Jill Tucker. Also their album which was released last Friday ain't half bad either, be sure to check it out. Enjoy!

Kissing Is A Crime - Crown Royal YTV

Two weeks in a row for the Don Giovanni label so one major shout out for those guys! This week is the track Crown Royal by Kissing Is A Crime. It starts off fairly steady/simple and when the guitar kicks in, it really pushes the track to another level. The lead vocals hit the sweet spot between a pronounced level without being abrasive and so quiet you cant hear what is being said, which generally sucks. I also wanted to majorly compliment the music video itself for one, for how well it works with the beat of the music, in terms of creativity as well as the timing of the track. You really don't need to have a massive production budget to produce the goods. Looking forward to more crackers from these guys. Enjoy!

Big Eyes - Behind Your Eyes YTV

A non video video of the week which is just a treat on the eyes this Tuesday. Behind Your Eyes by Big Eyes is off of the bands latest album which was released just this month called Stake My Claim. Lets hope the forthcoming video holds up to the same quality as this 'Official Audio'. The track has the great punk elements that I hear in several other Don Giovanni label-mates, all alongside the vocals which are distinctive and catchy enough to make Big Eyes stand out above the mediocre and humdrum pop-punk bands. Field Mouse - Tomorrow Is Yesterday YTV

This week I have chose a slightly old track from Philly band Field Mouse. Following their latest LP release I decided to delve into their past catalogue slightly and the video for Tomorrow Is Yesterday was one of the many video gems that popped up. Two and a half minutes of lo-fi grungy goodness from this 5 piece and is a great marker tonally for the rest of the album it is featured on as well as their future release. Expect more great things from this band. Enjoy! 

Phantom Planet - California YTV

A song to take you right back to mid 00's this week. The classic California by Phantom Planet was such a hit from that time, I was surprised it left my memory even for a second. The band popped up on my recommendations page on AllMusic the other day so as soon as I delved in and started to listen to this song, about 5 seconds in, the memories of being a teenager came flooding back. Many a good time in front of the TV haha. I would beg anyone to listen to this and not be singing along by the end of it. Enjoy! 

Beach Slang - Punks In A Disco Bar YTV

A bit of a taster from their upcoming second album is the single Punks In A Disco Bar from my boys Beach Slang, (when I say my boys I mean I have never actually met or even talked to any member of the band, safe to say strangers at best).  And this week isn't as much of a video as more of a still image but the music accompanying it is what counts. A brief 2:40 of a song that almost expectantly flies by with punkish charm, PIADB does a damn fine job with the instrumentation levels, not overly prioritising the vocals and truly showing off some sweet ass guitar licks and other great beats for me and you both to enjoy!.  

Johnny Foreigner - If You Can't Be Honest, Be Awesome YTV

Recently pop punk seems to be coming back into my audio life, what with the massive Blink album and killer tracks like this one from Johnny Foreigner. Dual vocals that blend together beautifully with simple, strong guitars and drums to back them up. Bands like these guys do a great job keeping the classic punk rock vibes alive and accessible and that is no mean feat (not enough can be said about it in my book). JF have been with us for over a decade now, let's hope for another decade more. Enjoy! 

Ian Sweet - If You're Crying YTV

I'm back! Yes I took a weeks gap between posts mainly due to being busy with work and partly due to the extremely nerdy fact of obsessively playing a new video game that I have been hooked on. Anyhoo back to normality, well as close as possible as we can all be. Its Tuesday officially for just under 4 hours now so I call that perfect time for my YouTube Video post. 

As I am sure I have stated somewhere in a previous post, I am a big Hardly Art Records fan and their current roster of artists is full of heavy hitters, with one of the newer signed bands being IAN SWEET and I am loving this track from said band 'If You're Crying' off of their recently released self titled EP. Chill indie at a strong 12/10, these guys know how to craft a song. Mellow guitar lines and drum beats with vocals that soothingly touch your ears and the occasional peak dotted around for added excitement. The record seems to be dialled back just enough to keep the emotion of the lyrics and instrumentation without being in your face or screeching. Great track and am looking forward to September for the LP. Enjoy!

Frankie Ballard - Journey To Sonic Ranch YTV

With the recent release of Frankie Ballards third album El Rio, he has made the video below discussing the making of said record. What I found interesting about the story was why he chose to record in El Paso as opposed to the popular and some would say over-saturated Nashville.  Taking a relaxed pace whilst recording records can 9 times out of 10 be a positive thing, it just helps refine and relieve pressure of strict deadlines and improves the quality of the record and gives it an overall chilled vibe. Frankie and the band also stopped off at some legendary studios enroute to bang out some tunes. Really interesting thing. Enjoy!

WOMPS - Live A Little Less YTV

This week has given me an influx of great new music albums. One of the highlights being the WOMPS LP with the great single Live A Little Less on it. The Scottish two piece has created a perfect piece of garage rock that seems to defy the rules of time by being just under 4 minutes long but in my head it is all over in about a minute. Very fast paced and noisy with the classic combination of drums and guitar, bare bones just how I like it. Enjoy!

Beck - Wow YTV

Beck hasn't been away but he is Back! Wow is the new release since the 2014 LP Morning Phase and 'wow' is definitely the word for this tune. A somewhat surprising synthy electronic sound that I am not used to hearing from the main man but I am loving it. I am quite a fan of his previous talented and extremely prolific work and this new single is no different. One of my favourite elements of the song is the lyrics that seem to come in easy and relaxed, with humorous rhymes at times (haha I even did one myself) and despite being a lyric video, it does a great job accentuating the madness. Dinosaur Jr - Tiny YTV

Fresh out of the gates with a bang is this new track from Dinosaur Jr. Tiny is off of the bands upcoming LP Give A Glimpse of What Yer Not which is out in just over 2 weeks. I have been a big fan of DJ for a few years now and J. Mascis' latest solo album was one of my favourites from 2014. So it is no surprise that I am pleased of the new music from these guys. It is the same great quality that I have grown to expect from their previous work. Enjoy this extremely informative video!

Turnover - Humming YTV

One big thanks to Run For Cover Records for releasing this video for all of the fans. What at first has the hints and bits of a standard indie rock summer track grows and after several listens has much more subtleties and  intricate bits than first imagined. Breezy and laid back vocals that is balanced with chill drums and a crackin' yet relaxed guitar hook. Humming is off of Turnovers second album which was released in early 2015 so this video has been a long time coming. Despite the long delay, this video fits in nicely with the current climate, sun coming through the windows, afternoons in the park you get my drift. Enjoy!

Steve Gunn - Ancient Jules YTV

Steve Gunn is certainly one man to be impressed by, from his numerous quality solo releases through to his work with Hiss Golden Messenger and Kurt Vile amongst others. He is definitely a hard worker to say the very least, and his standard hasn't dropped with his latest single Ancient Jules. The beautifully shot video works wonders on my ears with the almost 80's rock and roll guitar lines and gentle vocal. It showcases everything great about the man and the country that is America and has got me for one excited for the album Eyes On The Lines which is out on the 3rd of June. Enjoy!

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Oh Rosetta YTV

This week I have chosen a little nugget of new music in the form of Oh Rosetta by the one and only Mary Chapin Carpenter. Saying that, I hadn't heard of her before I listened to The Things We Are Made Of album last Friday. Turns out, this lady has been making music since the late 80's....the more you know. OR is a slow ballad chocked with undying faith and emotion, using bare bones instruments and a beautiful distinctive voice that unites and makes for a stunning track. Check out the lyric video below. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Gamma Knife YTV

What better way to get you through the Tuesday blues than this tasty slice of psych from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard called Gamma Knife. The video for this track is as out there as I have come to expect from the boys after seeing their previous creative releases. A thing with warlocks/cult members from various colour sectors performing a spell of types with 'Gamma Knifes' (obviously). Anyway the song showcases how great musicians they all are and I am in awe of that guitarist....boy oh boy he has some skills. Enjoy!
