Scott & Charlene's Wedding - Don't Bother Me YTV

Off of Scott & Charlene's third album is this great track Don't Bother Me. Sing along grooves that seem to define slacker garage rock. The track seems to stay just under the energised level, despite the vocals ending up getting more and more frantic as the song goes on. One of my best bits from the video is the straight up Slash moment on top of a truck from the killer guitarist Jill Tucker. Also their album which was released last Friday ain't half bad either, be sure to check it out. Enjoy!

Cage The Elephant - Tell Me I'm Pretty DA

December Album

After an exceptionally slow December where not many stand out music was released, I am so glad for the great albums from Lizzo, Milk Lines, The Bootleg Honeys and more. But my favourite by far is Tell Me I'm Pretty by Cage The Elephant. The fourth release from the boys brings the same great southern blues rock and roll that they are known for producing. And this time with added help from the seemingly always on point Dan Auerbach. The thing that I really enjoy about the album is how they play with the speed of the songs, going from the quick and punchy, to more mellower notes then back to the fast paced songs which plays with your emotions over the course of the album but whilst keeping their distinctive, unique sound throughout. MAINLAND - Not As Cool As Me SCS

My pick this time is the latest from NYC boys Mainland. Not As Cool As Me is a beautiful blend of guitar, drums, vocal and little flickers of what I guess to be some kind of electro keyboard thing. It gives me a scuzzy feel that I want out of all of my young rock bands whilst keeping a classic catchy sing along chorus that wont be leaving your head any time soon. Enjoy!

Seth Pettersen - Me N My Cutaway SCS

The song that is killin' it this week is Me N My Cutaway off of the 2015 album (Sweet Reaper) by Seth Pettersen. It is one of the more fast paced and scuzzy tracks from the album which is one of the reasons it is one of my favourites. When I listen to it I am reminded of my teenage years skating through the town centre with my group of mates and being generally unruly little boys. I think I get this from the song having a cutting punk rock kinda sound with the high screeching of the guitars the style of vocal that the song is sung in.  Also the fact that it seems to fly by just leaves me wanting more. Off to see Circa Waves tonight in Birmingham and boy am I pumped. Their debut album that was released in March, Young Chasers is all killer, no filler and I am looking forward to hearing some of the newer tracks this evening alongside the classic singles.


Regarding the video below. I randomly tuned in to Radio 1 whilst out driving recently which was a bit out of the blue for me but I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Circa Waves were doing a Live Lounge performance. The thing that makes this song great is that it is so far removed from the original version and it sounds like it would perfectly fit on the Circa Waves album. I highly doubt it but I would totally be up for it if they were to crack this one out tonight. Enjoy!

Holly Drummond - Blame It On Me YTV

Holly Drummond is an artist that I have championed for a long while now. She is a Scottish singer songwriter who has produced a few great EPs, which you can get from her BandCamp page. This track was made popular by the equally brilliant George Ezra and this version is definitely more spooky, slow and sultry compared to the upbeat and bouncy style of the original. Holly has the ability to make you really listen to the lyrics of a track because every word she sings carries emotion and a sense of power that makes you focus and pay close attention. Beautiful. Katy Perry & Catfish

Over the past couple of days I have watched the Katy Perry movie Part Of Me and the movie Catfish.

Part Of Me I found semi-interesting. It really showed how much time she is on tour and performing. She really puts her all into her shows and making sure her fans have a good time, but it really is at a detriment to her health and mental well being, you have to have those breaks. The movie logged her touring schedule over the California Dreams tour and it also includes the relationship and breakup between her and Russell Brand. The amount of information you find out about her life present day isn't really a great deal but I was interested to learn about her rise to stardom and in particular her time as a Christian rock musician, also her time struggling to be herself when everyone wanted her to be someone else. I definitely think its one for the fans and I wouldn't waste that time again personally but if the information next time was more personal I would probably enjoy it more.

Catfish was recommended to me by my step mom. Going into it I didn't really know what the movie was about but I was soon lead to believe it was about a young artists rise to fame but boy did that opinion change. After the main person got more involved with the said young girl and her family across Facebook and by phone he got into a relationship with her older sister called Megan. After some time passed the main guy and a couple of his friends decide to visit Megan and her family in person. I won't spoil it for you or anything but if you like really good, interesting modern documentary type things you should watch it. There is also a television show with the same name that I am gonna start watching, hopefully it is as good as the movie.

Currently I am watching The 1975 perform at Lowlands Live festival via YouTube live streaming service. You gotta love YouTube always pushing into new ground.

YouTube Video Of The Week! 06/08/13

This weeks video is a Kings Of Leon track from their forthcoming album called Mechanical Bull. I prefer this song over the previously released track from the album: Supersoaker. I like the more mellow sounding Kings Of Leon songs over the energetic Supersoaker. I'm interested to see if their new album will be along the same kind of lines as Come Around Sundown, which by the sounds of it that does seem to be the case, or if there will be any songs on the album that are going somewhere new and a bit different. So far I'm happy with their releases, fingers crossed for a decent CD.
